Obtaining Title24-JA8 certification involves meeting certain criteria and adhering to a specific process as required by the California Energy Commission (CEC).
First, product design must follow specific standards:
- have a high luminous efficiency (lumens per watt);
- the Color Rendering Index (CRI) must be above 90, ensuring excellent color rendering;
- systems must have a flicker rate of less than 30 per cent under all operating conditions.
Products must be tested for compliance at accredited laboratories that verify the above conditions as required by the California Energy Commission (CEC).
The results are sent to the CEC accompanied by any possible detailed documentation. Following approval, products are registered in the CEC databases and labelled “JA8-2016” or “JA8-2016-E” (for those suitable for high temperatures in closed luminaries).
